I’ve been told that keeping a journal is a very good idea. James told me actually. He told me approximately eleven times, which, for James, means he’s serious about it.
So here I am, writing my first entry!
I suppose I had better introduce myself… My name is Slothy McTravelton, and I have been to some incredibly wonderful places:
Hawaii - where I discovered that pineapples are more complicated than they look.
New Zealand - where the mud turned out to be an unexpected adventure.
Paris - where everything smelled like butter and possibility.
The Serengeti - where I learned that being slow is sometimes exactly the right speed.
James keeps a collection of tiny rocks from every place we visit. I keep a Snack Journal and now, a real journal.
This journal is somewhere to put the bits that don’t fit in my Snack Journal:
The way the air felt when we landed somewhere new.
The sounds I heard before I opened my eyes in the morning.
The very important question of whether the pillow was fluffy enough.
Even though these things aren’t rocks or snacks, I think they still matter, and I want to share them with you!
I’ll write about all the places we’ve been, and all the places we’re going.
James will probably write some too, because James finds it very hard to stay quiet when there is something exciting to report.
I hope you’ll come along with us? There is always plenty of room, and I always pack extra snacks.
With love and umbrella straws,
Slothy McTravelton
